Floating Bar Chart

The Floating Bar chart allows you to plot a peer group as a floating bar and mark up to 15 investments on each bar.

To create a new Floating Bar: on the New menu, point to Charts, and then choose Floating Bar.

4General Settings

To change the title, data, and floating bar settings. Only those numerical data points which may be plotted are displayed in the Selected Data Points box. If you chose ineligible data points that display as text, they will not be shown here. To change the list of available data, click Edit Data.

The n(tiles) setting controls the number of breakpoints in the peer group bar. Bar % controls the data used to create the bar, with the default 100 using all of the data, and 50 using the middle 50%, for example. Internal Bar % controls an optional smaller bar within the larger bar. The Values in the top n(tile) setting controls whether values on the Y axis appear in ascending or descending order.

4Investment Settings

To change each investment's color or line thickness. Edit multiple investments at the same time by selecting the investments, and then changing the appropriate settings.

4Peer Group Settings

A peer groups shows up as a reference in your chart -- in a gray background bar. By default, there is no peer group selected. Your peer group can be based on the investments in a Morningstar Category or one of your saved investment lists. To include a peer group, choose a universe and category or select an investment list.
